Chief Civic Education Officer in the Ministry of Local Government, Kondwani Chitosi, says the Government would like to move from what has been "it is the government responsibility" to what is being called "it is our responsibility."

Speaking in Zomba on the sidelines of a District Executive Committee (DEC) meeting, Chitosi said that there was a need for active participation from people aimed at establishing solutions to what affects them in the society.

A DEC meeting has since approved the Ministry of Local Government's plans to establish new Civic Education Hubs in the district.

This is an extension to the initiative which was earlier implemented in Traditional Authority Mwambo in the district in 2023, scaling it up to T/A Chikowi of Zomba.

The initiative is being supported by the European Union and UNDP, with technical assistance from the Malawi Democratic Governance (Boma Lathu) Programme.
